Our company undertook the architectural study & construction of the Papastavrou Shops | Dainese Department store in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki. Moto rider equipment is considered one of the most demanding products to display, as both safety systems and different designs, colors, and textures must be presented.
The needs of the partners were discussed, and following the moodboard presented by our design team, the industrial dark look & feel, influenced by the “tunnel” a traveler passes through, led to this specific “groundbreaking” result. Thus began the production of the idea at the design level. With the client’s initial approval of the preliminary designs, we began the implementation study and construction details concerning: lighting study, floor selection, detailed electrical and plasterboard design, along with the study of the heating-cooling of the space. Additionally, a series of designs with an implementation study was delivered to our production departments for the manufacturing of equipment and furniture. More specifically, we constructed special illuminated structures in gold coloring for the main volume, which are rider helmets in the initial area of the store. Subsequently, we installed our industry’s popular I-handle shelving and hanging system with hidden lighting and industrial design grids in matte black, which accommodated the heavy load of leather rider jackets. In the depth of the “black tunnel,” the very bright racing section emerged. We chose a minimalist and futuristic character to highlight the purity and contrast of black. White tiles with a fully illuminated ceiling and a central display podium for a motorcycle were the elements we aimed for, so that the consumer would feel the experience of purchasing only racing equipment. Also required was the flexibility of 360-degree presentation of these products (racing track suits), which we achieved with the curved roller conveyor in white. Finally, we custom-built a cash register – reception with the same materials and colors and an illuminated sign with the store’s brand, while behind the cash register we also placed decorative wall applications, similar to the wall for helmets, with lighting bells, again in gold coloring. We thank Papastavrou Shops for the trust they showed from the very first moment in the design idea and the implementation process!
